Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA)

From September 2021, it is statutory for Reception children to take part in the Government Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA). This is a short, interactive and practical assessment of children's early Literacy, Maths, Communication and Language skills.

The purpose of this new government assessment is to provide the starting point for a new measure that will help parents understand how well schools support their pupils to progress between Reception and Year 6 / the end of Key Stage 2.

Here is a guide for parents explaining the RBA. If you have any questions after reading it, please contact your child’s teacher.
